Paula Boock is a leading New Zealand scriptwriter, author and publisher. Her screen credits include storylining and writing on the light drama The Strip (series 1 and 2), the internationally acclaimed drama series The Insiders Guide to Happiness and its 7-part "prequel" The Insiders Guide to Love. She won the 2003 AFTA Best Drama Script (with Kathryn Burnett) for The Strip and was a finalist in the 2005 and 2006 NZ Screen Awards for her Insiders Guide scripts. She has also been the script consultant for three series of the multi-award winning bro'Town. In 2007 she and Donna Malane formed Lippy Pictures. Together they have created and co-produced Time Trackers, a 13-part international children's time-travel drama, and Until Proven Innocent, a 90 minute Sunday Drama, forthcoming on TVONE.

As an author Paula has written five young adult novels, including Out Walked Mel (AIM Best First Book Award), Sasscat to Win (Esther Glen Medal) and Dare Truth or Promise (NZ Post Children's Book of the Year) which have been published in Australia, the UK and USA. She has held the Writing Residency at the Dunedin College of Education as well as the Robert Burns Fellowship, and in 2004 published On Make-up and Makeover, part of the Montana Essay Series.

Before the move to screen-writing, Paula worked as a publisher and editor for ten years, and was a founding partner of Longacre Press. She continues to work as a fiction consultant and occasional book editor for the independent publisher.
