about
Lippy Pictures is a production company that develops and produces original drama projects from inception through to market release.
Producer/writers Paula Boock and Donna Malane are the creatives at the heart of the company. With backgrounds in publishing and television they worked together on several prime-time dramas before forming Lippy Pictures in 2007.
Since then Lippy Pictures has made award-winning children's drama, five feature-length television films and a six-part crime series co-production with Germany. Check out our awards page here.
We pride ourselves on making television and films with high production values using innovative approaches. As drama specialists, we are a script-oriented company, focused on strong, original concepts and well-developed scripts. This, along with a dedication to working collaboratively has attracted quality creative partners, and we are very proud of the people we've been privileged to work with delivering Lippy's award-winning list.
Recent projects from Lippy include the ambitious television film Jean, based on the story of Jean Batten, New Zealand's iconic aviatrix from the 1930s. Directed by Robert Sarkies its outstanding success saw it win all 12 of its categories at the 2017 NZ TV Awards and nine world medals at the New York Festival of Television.
Most recently the Lippy team conceived, wrote and produced The Gulf, a six-part crime series in partnership with Screentime (NZ) and Letterbox Films (Ger). It premiered late 2019 on TV3 in New Zealand and ZDF in Germany and is now selling worldwide. A second series is in development.
Details of each project can be found on its own page.
